This car still haunts me. A friend of my father's owned one back in the 70s. When he died, his widow sold the car to some car dealer and probably got ripped off big time. I, not even 10 years old, had been pestering my father to buy it, he wanted to give the poor woman some time, and then it was too late because it was already sold.

They don't make them like they used to, and even if they could, they probably wouldn't?!

i in the 90´s bought from a old taxi driver is Mercedes but is own one not the taxi he drove for 40 years with a shorter body or like many still believe today that before the w201 or 190E there was no shorter mercedes but always there was a shorter body of now called E -class in the late 60´s and till 86 ,if memory doesn´t fail me .This model but shorter , ´till early 80´s in taxi version flooded the downtown Lisbon, Portugal, near the river . A friend of mine who sold a lot of 2nd hand cars took me to this man´s home for him to show me his car ,like this but in bordeux and beige cloth inside , i was driving a mint condition w115 220D from 74 , he told me that he would sell it for what today is 750€, i bought it, but my friend who took me there, tells me next that for 10 years he asked the older man to sell it even for higher value but he always told him, no . Well he was kind of crazy and wrecked a lot of cars so he couldn´t understand why this person at firt time we met offer me it´s mint Mercedes-Benz for a value lower than my friend ofered him for a period of 10 years, i think i undestood him when he told me it, i was driving a mint 220D from 74 it even had the original front lights not like the ones sold at the time that by the side it looked it had not the headlights as the original ones by the side had a round shape that made the shape of the car look not so square, it says all

Not too many people own a car for that length of time. Very cool that you've kept it all these years. Still has the Thermactor anti - smog system. Yes, you could get an AM/FM radio in a '66 Mustang. It also has the deluxe steering wheel which was an option as well. Looks like it's been re-painted at some point, you don't mention that, but I see overspray in many areas. The wheel covers are 1967 parts. Nice, solid original car!

These were some of the best of the classic years, to me, the suburban was actually still on a truck platform and the cabs match the trucks. I currently have a 2000 model which I really like, but I think it is the last of the best suburbans, especially after the unibody suv types that we have these days.

My first truck as a young teenage driver, was one these!

The number of American car films made, for dealers, TV auto tests, etc., compared to Europe and England, is sad. They were also poorly preserved, causing blank spots to red shift. That said, please get these digitized, both for posterity, and quality, since they're un-viewable to many; myself included. Thanks.

Problem with them was poor rust resistance....My Dad factory ordered a '73 C10 Cheyenne Super Suburban and it started to rust at less than 3 years old and the rocker panels were completely gone at 5 years old. The only survivors seem to be from dry climates out West.

You can see and almost feel the quality in the materials used.

The 600 needed a bigger engine, a quality auto transmission (GM), an efficient a/c (GM), and ridden of all this nonsense hydraulic/pneumatic powered everything. Also, even the swb models weren't fit as owner/drivers (unlike Silver Shadows) because of the disproportion between front side windows that are too narrow, and the rear compartment side glass given it a "must be chauffeured" look. If not for that styling flaw the 600 would have sold like hotcakes (like the Silver Shadow).

I saw footage of some of the dictators that owned this type of Mercedes. The most surprising for me was the Kims of North Korea. Nothing says "Capitalist" like a Mercedes limousine.

Very nice 1966 but with the wrong wheel covers. Look at the brochure photo at 1:28 as it shows the correct ones. My Dad purchased a new one in 1966.

Your mustang is nice, all original, I like it alot nice color, top, and inside.
